People often ask me how I manage to do so many things. Aside from writing TheKey, I speak regularly at a number of conferences and functions, travel, create audio and video files, manage my business, write books, consult with clients, network, socialize, go the gym, read, cook, sleep at least seven hours a night and am a full time single mum. So as you can imagine, time management is a skill I’ve learnt to master and master well!

But, it's not a skill I was born with. We all get the same 24 hours in a day, but I have made specific choices (and plans!) that allow me to make the most of every day.

There’s a number of ways out there to promote or grow your business, but I have a few favourites I believe every business should employ. One of them is Referral Marketing.

Word of Mouth (WOM) referrals are the No.1 lead generation strategy for businesses – when clients are asked how they found out about something, the response is usually via a friend etc. Most small business owners start off building their business via referrals as it’s the most cost efficient marketing strategy you can use, and you can see the results instantly.

Setting Specific Goals

A specific goal incorporates an action plan that outlines how you will achieve the goal, when you will achieve it by, and how you'll measure if you've been successful. If you're setting goals for business success, you need to first ask what's your definition of success? Does it mean having more time with our family? Does it mean being in a position to add more staff? Does it mean being financially secure (and at what point is that security reached)? Is it developing more confidence so you can sell your product or service more successfully or try something new?
